Mr. Bill Koukourikos (callsign "Kouk") is a retired USAF pilot, currently working at the Edwards AFB Flight Safety Office. He has flown at the Air Force Flight Test Center for the past 10 years, and is an instructor at the USAF Test Pilot School. Kouk has accrued over 4,400 hrs, mostly in military jets, holds an ATP, and is a FAASTeam member. He has travelled throughout Southern California educating general aviation pilots about the R-2508 Complex, what it means to be a professional pilot, and other safety topics. The Briefing: Edwards AFB, and the surrounding airspace, known as the R-2508 Complex, have seen great leaps in aviation technology, from the busting of the sound barrier to the Space Shuttle and beyond. The airspace is not only used by the military, but by many civilian users and the general aviation community. Mr. Koukourikos, from the Air Force Flight Test Center, will share with us the current test programs at Edwards AFB and will educate us on proper procedures and techniques to use whan transiting the R-2508 or any other Special Use Airspace. We will also get a briefing by the Edwards AFB Survival School instructors on basic survival and signaling after an aircraft accident until rescued.
